Sydney's creative hub for live music, visual art, theatre, comedy, burlesque and booze. Oh yeah, and did we mention we're open till 3am?
During the '80s and '90s the venue played host to a wide array of local and international bands and solo artists, including The Beastie Boys, D.I.G, INXS, Skunkhour and The Lemonheads, to name just a few.
For fifteen years the Level 3, New York loft-styled space sat dusty and dormant... until it was finally rediscovered in 2010, and transformed into the Lo-Fi Collective, a lowbrow studio and art gallery which showcased weekly exhibitions from Australian and international lowbrow artists.
The next stage in the venues evolution encompasses the entire spectrum of creative pursuits, positioning The Standard as Australia’s premier mid-sized all purpose performance art space.
The Standard has been designed to accommodate a wide spectrum of creative pursuits that range from live music, stand-up comedy and theatre through to gallery exhibitions, scratch nights and cabaret. Spanning 355sqm, the venue accommodates 500 patrons and consists of two bars, men’s and women’s amenities, a mezzanine and modular pro-staging that can be arranged into four primary configurations.
