Counting Crows have announced a bumper Australian tour, confirming five dates around the country.

The shows announced include Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney, alongside their appearance at the Byron Bay Bluesfest in April.

This tour will be the first to Australia for Counting Crows since 2004. In the meantime, they have penned 'Accidentally in Love' for the Shrek 2 soundtrack with the song going haywire and earning them Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations.

They have just released their sixth studio album - Underwater Sunshine - which reinterprets and delivers 15 songs by a slew of varied artists from the 1960s to last year including Gram Parsons, Bob Dylan, Big Star, The Faces, Teenage Fanclub, Travis and Kasey Anderson.

Pre-sale tickets are available from midday Thursday 17 January, with general tickets going on sale at 9am Monday 21 January.
