Neil Finn and Paul Kelly announce joint tour

Media were ushered into the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall this morning for a three-song performance and national tour announcement from Neil Finn and Paul Kelly.

The seasoned artists are set to take in Australia on a ten-date live tour, which will include sets at Adelaide Festival and A Day On The Green.

The pair performed each other's tracks, with Kelly taking vocal lead on Crowded House's 'Into Temptation' before Finn sang Kelly’s 'You Can Put Your Shoes Under My Bed', then both sang in harmony to Kelly’s 'Leaps And Bounds', although they stressed the tour would not take this form, with the pair mostly singing their own songs.

While it hasn’t been decided whether the tour will lead to a collaborative album release, the pair revealed they’re still yet to settle on a tour set list, mentioning they’re down to about fifty tracks.

Kelly and Finn also announced their family will be taking the stage with them; Finn’s son Elroy will play drums while Kelly’s nephew Dan will perform on guitar. Finn told TMN his son Liam was asked to join the tour but had his own solo artist commitments.

This isn’t the first time Finn and Kelly have toured together, Paul Kelly and The Messengers joined Crowded House on their US tour in 1987 where collaborative performances of 'Leaps and Bounds' and 'Throw Your Arms Around Me' were regular features.

Tickets for all shows on sale from November 16.
