The latest exhibition of stunning watercolour paintings made 'en plein air' by acclaimed Sydney-based artist and teacher Guy Troughton.
Painting ‘en plein air’ (in the open air) is a movement made famous by the Impressionists and iconic Australian artists like Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts and Julian Ashton.
Inspired by familiar spots close to the artist's home including Balmoral, Manly Dam and Clontarf in Sydney, the watercolours are fresh and vigorous and feature landscapes and elements of nature found by the sea and in the bush.
A dedicated watercolour advocate, Guy Troughton is on the Executive Committee of the prestigious Australian Watercolour Institute (AWI) and also teaches watercolour painting - sharing his passion and knowledge with others. This year his watercolours have been exhibited in Mexico, Taiwan and Korea as well as numerous galleries across Australia.
