In 2011, Luke Adams, a promising Swan Districts Football Player was the victim of a one-punch assault in Northbridge. Suffering major head injuries he was placed in a coma with little hope of survival. Defying the odds, within weeks he was out of the coma and beginning the long rehabilitation process.

However Luke Adams is one of the lucky ones. Many other individuals from all walks of life have been victims of similar offences. In an instant many individuals’ lives have been and will continue to be debilitated. Alcohol related violence is rife in many popular social spots around Perth. While there has been some effort to help change the attitudes and resulting behaviours of youth’s in Western Australia, more change is still needed.

The Luke Adams Foundation, established by the friends and family of Luke in 2011, aims to campaign against violence in the community to ensure other individuals are not exposed to the same tragic circumstances. This is been done through supporting education programs, advocating for legislative reform where necessary, research, awareness in the community through events and collaboration with other groups to produce outcomes of a greater scale.

On December 6th, the foundation will hold its 2nd annual Corporate Golf Day to help raise funds and create awareness. Tickets include lunch, cart hire and a presentation dinner. There will also be a silent auction, the opportunity to win a brand new Toyota Yaris and other fun games. Both golfers and non golfers are encouraged to play, with a maximum handicap of 27 available.

The money raised at the event will directly help the campaign against violence, and subsequently contribute to a safer and better-connected community by helping to fund projects undertaken by the foundation.
