The Jetty House B&B in Southport is hosting a Garden Party.

Included in the ticket price are Tea, Coffee, Cakes and Sandwiches. For entertainment, chamber music will be performed by local musicians as well as readings from Lady Jane Franklin's journal.

We are also delighted to announce that the Tasmanian Police Pipe Band will attend our event at around 3.30pm and will play a skirl of highland pipes around the garden. This is going to a celebratory touch to a special afternoon and promises to be a highlight of the day.

The Jetty House is a beautiful, historical home built in 1875 and is a superb setting for a delightful afternoon. Come along and make sure you have a turn around the garden.

We will sell raffle tickets on the day and prizes will be drawn later in the afternoon.

This event is a fundraiser for the Southport Community Centre and all money will go towards a commercial kitchen for our Centre.

The Southport Garden Party was a truly fabulous day, held within the 'tearooms' and verandah at the beautiful Jetty House. After a shaky start due to rainy weather, we were so grateful that Carl and Ros decided to clear their lounge of furniture and that became the main tearoom - the other smaller adjoining room also becoming a parlor for 2 tables. We had tables all along the sheltered verandah on the east side of the house and thankfully a crowd of people came to partake of a delightful day.
The tiered plate stands were stunning, the food appreciated, the coffees and teas poured all afternoon, the Tasmanian Police Pipe Band were fabulous, playing celebratory Highland tunes, the chamber music by musicians accompanied by local children was gorgeous, and the performance by Lady Jane Franklin was equally great.
Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and came along. We hope to have a commercial kitchen installed at the Southport Community Centre in the near future.
