McManus Entertainment is thrilled to announce the return of iconic country music legend Dwight Yoakam to Australia for an east coast tour in November. Dwight will play shows in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Tamworth, Wollongong, Townsville, Rockhampton, Brisbane and Toowoomba. Joining Dwight for these shows will be very special guest Lee Kernaghan - the dynamic musician, songwriter and beloved Aussie country rocker.
“I’m so excited to bring Dwight Yoakam back to Australia and give him the opportunity to play to fans not only in the big cities but also to his many regional fans,” said promoter Andrew McManus. “Dwight is one of the most talented singersongwriters to come out of America and with the legendary Aussie Lee Kernaghan as our very special guest, fans can expect a stellar show.”
The name Dwight Yoakam invokes images of a cowboy hat with the brim pulled low and tight blue-jeans. This master of melodies croons poignant lyrics that firmly connect him with a large, loyal following. The Los Angeles native has sold over 25 million albums worldwide placing him in an elite group of global superstars. Dwight has 12 gold albums and nine platinum and multi-platinum albums to his name including the triple-platinum album This Time. Five of those albums have topped Billboard’s Country Albums chart with another 14 landing in the Top 10. Dwight’s incomparable hits include Honky Tonk Man, Please Please Baby, Little Ways, I Sang Dixie, It Only Hurts When I Cry, Fast As You and Thousand Miles From Nowhere. Such hits have earned him two Grammy awards and a staggering 21 Grammy nominations.
Dwight’s debut album Guitars, Cadilacs, Etc, Etc… led the New Traditionalist movement and was a hit with critics and fans alike. Taking influences and filtering them into his own blend of country and rock, Dwight honours his musical predecessors while creating something beautifully new. His latest album 3 Pears is out 21 September and showcases his ability to incorporate multiple, competing influences into one - balancing his country core while embracing rock, Americana, pop and soul.
Joining Dwight on his tour is ARIA and multi Golden Guitar winning musician and songwriter Lee Kernaghan. His first number one hit Boys From The Bush became the anthem for a younger generation of rural Australians. Throughout his career Kernaghan dominated the charts with successive hit albums including Three Chain Road, 1959, Hat Town, Electric Rodeo, The New Bush, The Big Ones and #1 album Spirit of The Bush. Some of his biggest hits include She’s my Ute,
The Outback Club, and the award winning duet with Slim Dusty Leave Him in the Longyard. Lee’s new album Beautiful Noise will be released October 26 and is sure to hit number 1.
