Join us on The Concourse for a Willoughby Symphony Christmas. This prom-style concert will feature a variety of popular and classical music favourites.
The narrated story of Peter and the Wolf will be brought to life by the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, under the energetic young conductor Sarah Penicka-Smith. Prokofiev's orchestral version of this classic children's tale has been enjoyed by families for generations. See if you can spot the birds (flutes) arguing with the duck (oboe). Or the mysterious cat who follows Peter as he goes exploring, blissfully unaware of what lurks in the forest.
The orchestra will also perform a selection of waltzes and polkas, made famous by the Viennese New Year's Eve concerts. In the second half the choir will join the orchestra in a magical Christmas finale, with colourful renditions of best loved carols and excerpts from Handel's Messiah.
Home for Christmas will be a relaxing afternoon of entertainment for the whole family. What a great way to kick off your summer holidays.
